Fat injection to face, also known as facial fat grafting, is a cosmetic procedure that takes fat from another part of the body. Fat is removed from the donor area with the help of liposuction, and transferred to the face as fat grafts.

As the fat is harvested from the patient’s own body, fat grafting uses 100% natural filler. The grafted fat then needs to find blood supply in order to survive. Typically, around 30% to 50% of grafted fat successfully survives and natural and long-lasting results are achieved.

Suitability

Have shallow contours on your face
Want volume on your face
Would like to look more youthful
Wish to improve your confidence
Are healthy and at a stable weight
You have done your research on the procedure

Recovery

You might experience some bruising and discomfort around the donor area and some level of tightness and skin redness around the injected area. You may feel like the treated area is over-filled but that is to ensure satisfying results once the swelling goes down.

There is no need for a hospital stay. You may resume all activities right after the procedure but it is generally advised that you avoid strenuous activities for the first 48 hours to minimize swelling and discomfort.

Aftercare is as important as the surgery itself when it comes to boosting the effects of the procedure.

Make sure you keep yourself propped up with multiple pillows while lying down or sleeping.

Swelling is expected but it will start to go down after day 2 and 3, which are the most challenging. If necessary, your doctor may prescribe you painkillers.
