Breast is a special organ that completes the physical appearance and structure of a woman. Breast volume plays an important role in measuring shoulder width, breast diameter, waist and hip circumference.

If the breast volume is small, the appearance of the body contour will be lacking. Breasts can be small or asymmetrical for a variety of reasons. Most commonly used method to equalize both breasts or increase their volume is breast augmentation surgery, possible with silicone breast prostheses (breast implants).

What is a silicone breast prosthesis (breast implant)?

Silicone-containing products are also used for other purposes in the cosmetic industry and medicine. Breast prostheses are balloon-like structures made in the shape of breasts. There are two different types of prostheses: round and teardrop (anatomical).

The amount of tissue, tissue structure, breast diameter and patient’s expectation are very important in the selection of the prosthesis.Today, round prostheses are most commonly used, filled with silicone gel and textured. Prosthesis selection and placement may vary depending on the patient, breast condition, and surgeon preference.
